Privacy terms

These privacy terms set out the principles governing the collection, processing and storage of personal data. Personal data is collected, processed and stored by the controller, the Estonian Medical Students’ Association (the “processor”).

A data subject means a donor or other natural person whose personal data the processor handles. A donor is anyone who makes a one-off or recurring donation on the processor’s website. The processor follows the data processing principles laid down in law, including processing personal data lawfully, fairly and securely.

Collection, processing and storage

The personal data the processor collects, processes and stores is gathered electronically, mainly through the website and by e-mail. By sharing their personal data, the data subject gives the processor the right to collect, organise, use and manage — for the purposes set out in these terms — the personal data they share directly or indirectly when donating on the website.

The data subject is responsible for the data they submit being accurate, correct and complete. Knowingly submitting false data is a breach of these terms. The processor is not liable for damage caused by a data subject submitting false data.

What data

The processor may handle the following personal data: first and last name; date of birth; telephone number; e-mail address; bank account number; payment card details. The processor may additionally collect data about a donor that is available in public registers.

The legal basis for processing is Article 6(1)(a), (b), (c) and (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation.

Retention periods

The processor may share donors’ personal data with third parties such as authorised processors, accountants and payment service providers. Personal data needed to carry out payments is passed to the authorised processor Maksekeskus AS. Data subjects’ data is retained according to the purpose of processing, but for no longer than 7 years.

The data subject’s rights

• The right to access and review their personal data.
• The right to information about the processing of their personal data.
• The right to complete or correct inaccurate data.
• Where processing is based on consent, the right to withdraw that consent at any time.

To exercise these rights, contact the Estonian Medical Students’ Association at treasurer@eays.ee. A complaint may also be lodged with the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate.

These terms are drawn up in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (the General Data Protection Regulation), the Personal Data Protection Act of the Republic of Estonia, and Estonian and European Union law. The processor may amend these terms in part or in full, notifying data subjects of changes through the website.
